This flash rocks. For the money, you cannot beat this flash. The functions are like the Canon for 4x the money. The interface is simple to use and ties directly into my 5D without any problems. The quality of light is great and consistent at speed. My other flash sucked after 2 shots and would bleed off power and would not recover, but this flash has the muscle to do the work. TTL functionality is good, and the distance is actuate to light strength.

My photo friend had been shooting with Yongnuo flashes for sometime and recommended I add a flash to my wish list for a future purchase. After a recent photo shoot along the Amgen bicycle race, I noticed the riders faces were dark and difficult to see the stressed features so I took the plunge and bought a Yongnuo for myself. Within days of the flash arriving, I found myself at an outdoor, evening 40th birthday party where the flash was required. I had no training, no practice and the pictures captured on the 50mm were stunning. The birthday girl was so pleased with the pictures and I was too. I only have about 4-6 hours of practice with the flash, but I know I have a winner in my bag. I would recommend to others. I use a Canon 7D.

GREAT flash! This is my second Yongnuo flash (the first one I got was the 560 ex iii which is manual) and I love it! I love Yongnuo products, they are very affordable and you get more than what you pay for! Comparing it to a Canon flash this is a great deal. I would want a little bit of more power from this flash, but it's okay I don't have any complains. The HSS mode works as expected even wirelessly (with my YN622s). The TLL mode is very accurate 95% of the times. The assist focus beam is finally accurate (the beam of the YN622s are soooo wrong). The construction quality is excellent. I dropped this flash once for about 3 feet tall with the YN622 attached and nothing happened to it, not even a single scratch!. This is definitely a great purchase.

An excellent and strong flash. I purchased this flash so that I could use it off camera along with my Canon 580EX2 flash. It does everything I need in a flash just like the Canon one. The big difference is that I payed about 25% of the price. I have used this as a main flash to make sure the photos are consistent with the other flash.. I see no difference. This is truly an excellent value without compromising quality. I would definitely recommend this as a main or second flash.

If you have a DSLR, then you really need an external flash. Even with a built-in pop up flash, the applications are quite limited. This has TTL metering with an infrared sensor. The features that attracted me to this included the price (compared to a Canon OEM of similar features), the tilt/swivel head, zoom capability, integrated flash card and diffuser, as well as the capability to do manual or automatic modes. For a flash of this size, it is quite lightweight. It is powered by 4 AA batteries. It can function as a primary light or slave. The menu system is intuitive. The LCD is easy to read. Sound and backlight can be toggled. The head swivels 180 degrees left to right but it also swivels forward to straight up. The flash does not have the capability for external battery backup. I just keep a set of spare batteries on hand. The recovery for the next shot is quite quick, too. Overall, you cannot go wrong with this one. Even if you bought 5, you'd still be better off than buying one Canon Flash for 5 times the price. It comes with a nice nylon Velcro pouch for protection. Great flash unit

i'll start off by saying that i'm a wedding photographer mainly. i LOVE using flash. if i'm using studio lights, then all these features are meaningless to me, however, out in the field when you don't have time to use light meters and take a billion test shots you need these features. the ETTL on this thing has been flawless, and the HSS is waaaay more powerful than i thought it would be. i have a canon 430EXII along with other flashes, but i don't even use my (overpriced) canon flash unless i'm using multiple strobes. everything about this thing feels better than my canon one does, and for a fraction of the price. the screw on hot shoe connector is a lot better than that canon lever-system. the canon one attaches and detaches easier, but it has also fallen off my 5diii a number of times. the screw on one takes a seconder long to switch, but i know that sucker ain't goin' nowhere. the master/slave feature works perfect with my 430EXII, but i don't really use it. if i'm using multiple lights, they are all off-camera, in which case i pop on my YN-622C's. ***ONE THING TO NOTE - you CANNOT simply pop on a YN622C on your camera and YN568EXII and still have the YN568EXII act as a master to your other flashes. if this is what you want, you need separate triggers for all the flashes, and control everything from the back of the camera. However, if your other flashes are dummy optical flashes, they will still fire like normal. i would completely recommend getting the YN622C's to go along with this bad boy. i can't explain how much better life is when you can adjust everything from the back of your camera. sure, you still have to use canon's bizarre ratio system (if you're in ETTL), but you don't look like a moron in front of clients scrambling back and forth from your flash to your shooting position dialing everything in. after using this new Yongnuo stuff, i'm left wondering why anyone would buy some of the other "professional" gear. the only argument that i can entertain in that this doesn't have a connector for battery packs. that can be a huge issue for some people, but not for the majority of users. you can buy 3-4 of these over the canon 600 - so even if one dies on you, it's still a massive win for your wallet. if you're a wedding/event/portrait photographer looking for portable strobes, you will NOT find a better deal - so seriously stop wasting your time looking around. these have power, ETTL, HSS, master/slave functions, and for a percentage of what the "1st Party" brands are going for. bottom line - the features work flawlessly. the power is great. if you need an ETTL flash this is a no-effin'-brainer.

I haven't used the flash very long so time will tell how it holds up over time; but for a hundred bucks this thing does 98 percent of what the $400 Canon version will do. I can buy three of these AND three yn 622 c flash triggers for a little more than one Canon 560. A couple of things to note though: 1) this doesn't have weather sealing like the Canon's supposedly do, so if you shoot in the rain with a flash (not sure why you would) probably not a good idea. 2) you can't hook an external battery pack to it like you can with the Canon. However, I have not noticed any issues with the battery door hinge breaking as others have reported and it seems fine. The recycle time is actually pretty good. On half power I can shoot of 3-5 shots before it lags at all and needs to recycle. On full power it takes a good full 2 seconds between each firing but I don't think the Canon is much better. Update: I ended up shooting as wedding with this flash and it performed well. It did end up overheating at one point but once it cooled it continued to work fine. Any flash will overheat so this wasn't a design flaw. Overall I am quite impressed with what you get for a hundred bucks. The only thing that might be nice to see is an actual locking button on the swivel part of the flash head so it wouldn't tilt down with a flash modifier on it when hit. But it stays where it is well enough.

The overall build quality is very good, on par with Canon 320EX. I didn't think the battery door was weak as it is supported by metal plate and pin, no worse than brand name models and much better than previous iteration of Yongnuo flashes. Flash output is consistent as well as the recycle time. It works well as a master flash and in slave mode. Also works well with Yungnuo's YN-622C-TX Bundle With YN-622C in multiple flash set up. Although this unit is wired for Canon cameras, when you configure it as a Nikon slave flash (marked as Sn on the LCD panel) it works flawlessly as a Nikon specific optical slave flash using Nikon CLS system, either using Nikon's SU-800 , SB-910, SB-900, SB-800 flashes. This feature makes this flash so much more versatile as I shoot both Nikon and Canon system. When I need multiple slave flashes for Canon, I can configure Yungnuo's Nikon version to act as Canon slave flash (marked Sc on the LCD panel). Only con for me is that the user interface is not very intuitive and took me awhile to get use to using all the features.

I am really loving this flash. So much so, I purchased another. I am using it primarily off-camera and with the YONGNUO YN-622C flash triggers. This was my first flash since owning a 540 EZ Canon flash years ago. Honestly, I cannot see spending the extra money on an equivalent Canon-branded flash. I just can't. A person could purchase 4 YONGNUO YN 568 flashes for the price of 1 Canon 600ex-rt. The Canon might be more robust, have better weather sealing, and a few more features. Does it make up for that substantial cost difference? That's a really tough argument to make. I've heard that earlier versions of this flash have had battery door issues due to the plastic material used in production. I did purchase 2 replacement doors from a popular bidding site. They arrived quickly from China from a company that works exclusively with YONGNUO. I haven't seen any indication that I'll need to replace them anytime soon, but I have them in case and it only set me back about $11. A few things I have noticed that might detract from these being absolutely stellar is the mounting foot. The locking ring is very small and if you have hands the size of an average American, you might find it difficult to get the ring to tighten or loosen. They also don't always sit that tightly in the hot shoe and even when tightened down, they can shift. It's not going to fall out, but the consequence is that the focus assist beam is not centered correctly. Using these primarily off-camera - I'm not too worried about that. Just repeat to yourself, I can buy 4 of these for the price of 1 Canon unit. Even if 1 or 2 fail, you've got redundancy which to me is important.

I purchased this flash to supplement my 600EX-RT and 580EX. I recently photographed a wedding, and ended up using this flash primarily, and it functioned flawlessly. Cycle times were quick with my rechargeable eneloop batteries. I have read other reviews that mentioned a flimsy battery compartment door, but the unit I received seems appropriately sturdy, and actually functions much better than the door on my Canon 580EX. I use this flash with the Yongnuo YN-622C transceivers and the Yongnuo YN-622C-TX E-TTL wireless flash controller, and these products provide excellent functionality for a very reasonable price. The YN568 EX II TTL Flash certainly is not the same build quality as my Canon flashes, but it is also a fraction of the price, and it provides good functionality.
