So I bought this for my photographer husband as an anniversary present. He does professional photography and I know he loves his AD200, but always complains about how fragile the bare bulb is, and how ugly the light is from the speedlight head. So when I first saw this announced I knew it would be perfect for him. It gives the same great light as the bare bulb head, but is protected by the reflector and diffuser. He went out yesterday and did a couple of wedding style shoots with it, and decided to even try it without modifiers and said he loved it. He used it in his octobox and said it eliminated hot spots in it that he would get with the speedlight head, and then used it bare in places where he would normally use an octo and still got amazing pictures. Both pictures here were taken with no additional lights or modifiers, just the ring flash. Talking to him after the shoot he said this will probably be the head he uses now on the light all the time. No need to always carry modifiers, or worry about the fragile bare bulb to him makes it very worth its price.

I shoot real estate with AD200's. i love them, issue is that the fresnal (sp?) head has massive light leaks and limited spread. This head gives such a nice soft/defused spread of light. it has changed the way i shoot in a positive way and as a result my images have improved by like 10-20%. worth the $60 i would say. Couple of images attached to shot the work created with this. All copyright retains to photographer. I'll happily answer any questions about this product as i think it is a game changer.

I can’t say enough about this flash head. The light that comes from this is some amazingly soft light. I have tried other “small” flash adapters and they come nowhere near the quality of the H200R. The attached images with this review is a two light setup. The key light was using the H200R with no other modifiers and there are minimal hotspots on the wine bottle. I included a BTS shot as well to show the setup used. It was a quick thrown together setup to purposely challenge the light’s capability. I am thoroughly impressed with this and see myself using it on a regular basis. Especially for “Run & Gun” purposes! I only experienced a 1/3 light loss with this compared to bare bulb which is amazing as well.

Great little product. If you do studio style lighting and need to light a background with something small, this thing rocks! It throws a very nice even and round pattern on the background with good spread. at 3 feet away I was able to get a nice spread for portraits. At just 2 ft I still had a decent separation from the background but a little more of a spot. I'll be taking this instead of the 7" reflector I hate packing in my camera lighting bag!!

As shown on the official examples the light beam is very good. It's soft on the edge and no hot spots. I used it bare-head to shoot portraits and I was stunned by how soft the light falls on model's face! With this head, your ad200 now becomes a complete kit and works as good as much more expensive profoto B10, while the pricing is still way below profoto A1 (which has bad beam quality because it using fresnel lens).

As you can see, round head puts out most even light without hot spot in the center. What it really means is that, you do not need use extra diffusing accessories to achieve soft and even light. Also means AD200, which is Godox's most compact portable strobe light, becomes even more compact and portable.
